Pancakes Anyone?

Everyone that saw this picture said Kate looked like Aunt Jemima off the pancake/syrup package? I see a bit of a resemblance, do you?

Bathtub Accident

Here's a pretty comical tale from Kate and Justin and it happened last night.....

Picture this.

Mom has to leave for play practice. (She is Belle in Beauty and the Beast at the Slidell Little Theatre in January/February). So, rather than taking the necessary time to give Justin and Kate separate baths, they take a D'Angelo-version family bath.

Well, as the last water is leaving the tub and Justin is being dried off, Kate decided that she needed to potty....not #1, either!

So, there she sits in a pile of her own poop. Now, Jennifer has two problems: 1) re-cleaning Kate and 2) getting the tub clean. So when in doubt, she screams for me to come "help" this situation.

As she cleaned Kate with rags and wipes, I clothed naked Justin who used the opportunity to run through the house and announce the fact that Kate pooped in the tub.

Right when I got Justin clothed, Jennifer had Kate clean enough to take her to her room for dressing. That leave me available and the poop still in the tub. Lovely.

Use this next part for entertainment/future advice. First, I took the wipes that Jennifer cleaned Kate with, then dropped in the pile of poop, out of the tub. I used another wipe as a glove and shoved all of them in a garbage bag. The smell was horrific. Significantly worse than a diaper.

Then the big dillema. Do you try to physically pick up the pile or do you opt to "flush" it down the drain with warm water? I opted for the later and am not sure this was the right call. I figured a little hot water would break it down, slide down the drain and be gone. Not so fast!

Try realizing you made a judgement error are wondering if there is some lodged down the drain just out of site that may come back in a vapor form later and have Justin in your ear saying, "Can you believe this? She pooped in the tub. What was she thinking?" Then he sees the technique I am using to get rid of it and asks, "What are you doing?" With an emphasis on you that had a bit of a condescending tone. He's three.

Then, I had a revelation. I was going to chase the "dirty" water with a 1/4 tub of water/Soft Soap for Men Shower Gel (which is a lovely product, by the way).

Let's just say there have been no reports of foul odors coming from the bathroom today....well, at least from the tub drain.

The last time we listened to Berry White.....

This is a Justin classic that I thought I would share with everyone.
One time when he was very little, but able to talk, we were riding in the car going somewhere. A Barry White song came on the radio. I told Justin, "This is Barry White singing." He came back with, "Who? Berry White?" Each time we would get in the car, I would try to reinforce the name/sound of his voice.
.
Another time, while in Wal-Mart, he actually recognized his voice on the overhead piped in music and said, "Dad, is that Berry White?" I was impressed. Another occassion, when asked who his favorite singers were, he responded with "Berry White and Big Bird." One day, on the way to school, his mother offered him a cereal bar. He asked what flavor. She told him blueberry. He said, "Do you mean BlueBerry White?" All of that is background for the next story.
.
I have the complete Barry White collection on CD, imagine that. So, there are some songs that are not on mainstream radio. On Disc 2, there is a song entitled "Playing your game, baby." It comes on and goes a little something like this:
.
"You touch me, baby But don't cha know You can't hide No, no, baby When you give it upI t's only enough To get me by You're playin' a game It's so plain You want me to win I'm willin' to play What ever you say If love is the end Playin' your game, baby Your game, baby Just you and me Playin' your game, baby Your game, baby Nobody but you and me......."
.
From the backseat, Justin asks, "Daddy, what kind of game is Berry White playing?"
.
That's the last time we listened to Barry White.

New blog...

Inspired by our friends, the Walkers, and their on-going, comical tribute to their new son and the preceeding pregnancy...we have created the Justin and Kate Mouledous blog. On a fairly regular basis, we'll post what's happening in the worlds of Justin and Kate.

As we type, Justin is 3 years old. Above is a picture from his Thanksgiving trip to Washington, D.C. Justin is a big fan of animals. He has about 200 animal figures in all shapes and sizes and many of his Christmas gifts had an animal theme. One gift, a remote control alligator from his Nannie (my sister Mary Beth) has been pretty interesting. The gator walks forward, left and right, growls and snaps its jaws. Last night after reading books before going to bed, Justin popped up and said, "Wait a minute! I have to do something." He grabbed the alligator and put it outside of his room. I asked him what that was all about and he said, "I'm not sleeping with that thing in my room."

Kate is 10 1/2 months, learned how to crawl before Thanksgiving and now thinks she can stand up. Kate, as many of you know, was a reflux baby. She doesn't appear to have any lingering inner effects from that difficulty as an infant.....all effects are present in her outward behavior. She is a bit of a pepper, packing an attitude and a temper. She is definitely dabbling in talking as she knows to say "Ma" and "Dah" when she needs something. While standing in the kitchen last night, I swear she called Mary Beth "nan" or something...even though that's not her Nan.
